The principal emerging threats in antimicrobial resistance are coming from mobilised genes in large plasmids. The determinants of the epidemiology of AMR are therefore mostly those of these plasmids. The opportunities to intervene must therefore be based on a knowledge of the specificities and host ranges of these determinants, including 'addiction' modules. In this session. we present an overview of these opportunities and their implications for the way forward in AMR surveillance programs.
