Yoon (Rachel) Chang

Dr Chang is a Postdoctoral Research Associate and a Phage Project Theme Leader in the Advanced Drug Delivery Group, based at the School of Pharmacy, The University of Sydney. In 2014, she was awarded a PhD in Neuro-proteomics from The University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. She then moved to Advanced Drug Delivery Group for postdoctoral training. Her research focus is on formulation and delivery of bacteriophages for treatment of respiratory infections caused by bacteria, including those that are multidrug- and pandrug-resistant. Dr Chang’s research has impacted the scientific community through world-class publications and presentations at national and international conferences. In recent work, she has produced biochemically stable bacteriophage powder formulations with a long shelf-life that can significantly reduce the bacterial burden in the animal lungs. This finding has the potential to impact the way multidrug-resistant respiratory infections can be managed and treated.
