Antimicrobial resistance is a wicked problem that will require a systems based approach to identify and address potential contributors and modifiable factors.
Antimicrobial stewardship is a collective set of strategies to improve the appropriateness and minimise the adverse effects of antibiotic use including resistance, toxicity and costs.
However, the implementation of effective programs remains challenging in many sectors including aged care, primary care, and in the animal sector.
This is partly contributed to by the lack of workforce capacity to support effective implementation.
This presentation will review several programs of research currently being done by the National Centre for Antimicrobial Stewardship and its collaborators and will highlight the methodologies and outputs that are being used to drive behaviour change and program development.
