Parth Bhavsar
Parth Bhavsar is a second year PhD student in the field of Microbiology and Plastic degradation at Swinburne University of Technology.
The field of Biotechnology and its immense prospects has always captivated him.
He did his Bachelor’s of Technology in Biotechnology from Karunya University, India. During which he got an opportunity of doing a semester of research at West Pomeranian University of Technology, Szczecin, Poland.
Following this, he acquired his Postgraduate Diploma in Biotechnology from Swinburne University of Technology. Here, he got his inspiration to pursue PhD after attending one of his supervisor Dr. Hayden Webb’s lecture on plastic degradation.
Since then he is dedicated to his research which focuses on isolating microbial strains that can degrade a type of plastic called Polyurethane (PU). He hopes to develop an efficient, fast and sustainable system of PU degradation using microbes.
He also hopes that his research will pave the way towards addressing the current plastic dilemma.
